FAQs

Questions about the end of your assignment

When your assignment comes to an end, there can be a few practical things to think about.

Here you’ll find answers to common questions about notice periods, final pay, holiday entitlement, P45s, pensions, references, returning equipment and what happens next, so you know what to expect and who to contact if you need support.

Payroll Queries

This depends on the terms of your contract and the client's requirements. As a minimum, contact your Rullion consultant as soon as you know you want to finish — giving as much notice as possible helps us manage the handover with the client and avoids any impact on your record with Rullion.

If you work as a PAYE temporary worker, any accrued holiday pay you haven't already claimed will be paid out in your final payslip. You don't need to take action — this happens automatically. If you work through an umbrella company, holiday pay is typically included within your gross rate throughout your assignment. Check your umbrella company documentation for details.

Your final payslip will be issued on your normal pay date following the last approved timesheet. Make sure your final timesheet is submitted and approved before the deadline to avoid any delay to your final payment.

Rullion will issue your P45 after your final payroll has been processed. You should receive it within a few weeks of your assignment ending. If you haven't received it after four weeks, contact the payroll team at payquery@rullion.co.uk.

If a client ends your assignment early, your Rullion consultant will contact you as soon as possible to explain the situation and discuss next steps. You will be paid for all hours worked up to the end of your assignment, and your accrued holiday entitlement will be paid out in your final payslip. We'll also do our best to find you another suitable role — speak to your consultant about opportunities.

If you were auto-enrolled in Rullion's workplace pension, your contributions will stop when your assignment ends. Your pension pot remains yours — it is held by the pension provider and you can choose to continue contributing independently, transfer it to a new employer's scheme, or leave it as it is. Contact the pension provider directly for options. Your consultant or the payroll team can confirm which pension provider was used.

Yes. Rullion can provide a factual employment reference confirming your dates of assignment, job title, and worker type. References are requested and verified using Konfir, Rullion's secure online reference service. To request a reference, use the Konfir link in the section below.

Get in touch with your consultant directly, or browse our current vacancies at rullion.co.uk/jobs. If you're not sure who your consultant is, use the contact form on our On Assignment Support page and we'll connect you with the right person. We'd love to find you your next role.

This is usually managed directly with your client rather than through Rullion. Your line manager or the client's IT team will advise on their process for returning equipment, access passes, and deactivating system credentials. If you're unsure what's expected of you, contact your Rullion consultant who will help you navigate this with the client.

Your notice period is set out in your contract. In most cases this is one week's notice on either side, though this can vary by client and role. Contact your Rullion consultant as soon as possible if you are unsure — they will confirm the requirement and help you manage the end date with the client.

Requesting a reference

Rullion uses Konfir — a secure online platform — to manage employment reference requests. Konfir allows referees to verify your employment digitally, quickly and without paperwork. Rullion can confirm your dates of assignment, job title and worker type.
