Project Manager - Components Engineering

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a leading engineering organisation based in Ulverston, Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex Components Engineering projects, taking full ownership from project inception through to successful handover.

You will be responsible for driving project performance across commercial, technical, and operational aspects, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the successful delivery of Components Engineering projects.
  • Manage projects from initial concept through to completion and handover to the business.
  • Maintain control of project scope, schedule, costs, risks, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the Principal Engineer to provide project direction, coordination, and risk management.
  • Lead and coordinate a network of technical specialists to achieve project objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across engineering and business functions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring proactive risk management practices are implemented.
  • Deliver clear and effective presentations to individuals and stakeholder groups.
  • Provide occasional supervision and mentoring to apprentice personnel where required.
  • Ensure project governance, reporting, and controls are maintained throughout delivery.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience managing projects within an engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of project management methodologies, processes, tools, and procedures.
  • Extensive experience of risk management across all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Excellent leadership, delegation, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to influence and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and technical specialists.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver both formal and informal presentations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and project reporting experience.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities effectively.
