Reporting to the Fire Safety Manager and Principal Fire Risk Assessor, you will be responsible for undertaking and maintaining construction-phase Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across a complex and evolving major infrastructure project.
This role will involve assessing fire risks within active construction environments, ensuring assessments remain suitable and sufficient as site conditions, occupancy, commissioning activities, and contractor operations change. The successful candidate will provide expert fire safety advice, support assurance activities, and contribute to maintaining a robust fire safety culture across the project.
Your Responsibilities:
- Undertake, review and maintain construction-phase Fire Risk Assessments across allocated buildings, workfaces and project areas.
- Identify fire hazards, persons at risk, existing controls and required mitigation measures.
- Assess construction-specific fire risks including hot works, temporary fire precautions, compartmentation breaches, battery charging, waste management and hazardous activities.
- Evaluate temporary and permanent fire safety measures throughout construction, commissioning and handover stages.
- Carry out fire safety inspections, walkdowns and workplace verification activities.
- Produce clear, auditable reports with prioritised recommendations and action plans.
- Escalate significant life-safety risks through appropriate project governance channels.
- Support construction changes, temporary arrangements and phased occupation activities.
- Coordinate with contractors, Fire Safety Coordinators and subject matter experts to gather assessment information.
- Contribute to assurance reviews, investigations, lessons learned activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate fire risk assessment records and supporting evidence.
- Participate in peer reviews, technical challenge sessions and competence development activities.
What We're Looking For:
- A competent Fire Risk Assessor with experience operating in dynamic, high-risk environments.
- Strong understanding of fire risk management within construction, industrial, infrastructure or energy sectors.
- Ability to provide practical, proportionate and risk-based recommendations.
- Confident communicator capable of challenging stakeholders constructively.
- Experienced in managing multiple live assessments within a fast-paced project environment.
- Collaborative, safety-focused and committed to maintaining high professional standards.
Experience/Qualifications Required:

- Membership of IFSM, IFE or another recognised professional fire safety body.
- Inclusion on a recognised Fire Risk Assessor Register.
- Experience with commissioning, handover and operational readiness activities.
- Fire safety assurance, audit or investigation experience.
