Hours of work: Full-time

Role information:

  • Lead, coordinate and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering complex engineering work packages across highly regulated projects.
  • Oversee the delivery of engineering activities including specification, analysis, verification, assessment and design assurance.
  • Ensure engineering work is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with agreed scope, programme, budget and quality requirements.
  • Drive the development of integrated, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions that meet business, technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate technical, engineering and safety risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Chair engineering governance, design reviews and technical gate reviews.
  • Ensure engineering standards, processes and quality requirements are consistently applied across all deliverables.
  • Plan, forecast and manage engineering resources to support successful project delivery.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring competent personnel are assigned to key project roles.
  • Engage with subject matter experts, clients and supply chain partners to deliver technically robust engineering solutions.
  • Support engineering strategy, cost estimation and programme development within areas of responsibility.
  • Manage technical interfaces across engineering disciplines and supply chain organisations.
  • Experience supporting nuclear, defence or other highly regulated engineering projects is highly desirable. Experience of glovebox design, specialist containment systems or complex process facilities would be advantageous.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • BEng (Hons) minimum; MEng (Hons) preferred.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Fellow (FEng) status is desirable, although equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years' engineering experience, including at least 5 years working within a regulated, quality-assured environment where engineering judgement has been a key responsibility.
  • Previous experience leading multidisciplinary engineering or design teams.
  • Strong background in engineering design, technical governance and project delivery.
  • Experience chairing design reviews, governance reviews and technical assurance activities.
  • Experience working within highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence, aerospace, rail, oil & gas, chemicals or pharmaceuticals.
  • Knowledge of engineering assurance, safety, regulatory compliance and quality management systems.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
