Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week

Role Information

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop the engineering function across a portfolio of major projects. This role plays a pivotal part in both project delivery and work-winning activities, ensuring engineering excellence, innovation, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

You will be responsible for driving engineering strategy, supporting project teams from feasibility through to completion, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with business objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong leader who is passionate about developing talent, improving processes, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the engineering function, ensuring team capability and competence are maintained.
  • Support feasibility studies, option selection, and risk reduction activities.
  • Embed Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) principles into all engineering and design decisions.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with agreed scope, budget, programme, and company objectives.
  • Champion innovation, value engineering initiatives, and alternative design solutions.
  • Ensure engineering teams follow established processes, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Provide assurance across design, construction, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Act as the CDM Principal Designer where required.
  • Advise clients, sector leaders, and bid teams on engineering matters and technical submissions.
  • Line manage Design Managers and support staff development through effective resource planning and rotation.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and environmental performance, challenging poor practices where necessary.
  • Promote the adoption of modern engineering techniques, technologies, and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, enhancing quality, sustainability, social value, and project outcomes.
  • Represent the business professionally with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
  • Support recruitment, mentoring, and professional development initiatives across the engineering team.

Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams within complex project environments.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, project delivery, and construction processes.
  • Experience operating within regulated industries and managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations and experience acting as Principal Designer is desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety, quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting bids, tenders, and work-winning activities is advantageous.

Ability to gain SC Clearance.
