Overview of the role - Team / Projects / Key challenges

We're looking for experienced Net Zero Electrical Installers to join our growing team and play a key role in supporting the transition towards net zero.

As a Net Zero Electrical Installer, you'll be responsible for installing a range of low-carbon technologies in customers' homes, including:

  • Electric Vehicle Chargers
  • Solar PV
  • Battery Storage
  • Heat Pump Controls
  • Smart Meters

Every installation is different, so excellent technical knowledge, customer service and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential.

You'll receive a full induction into the ways of working, along with a company van, fuel card, tools, PPE, uniform and mobile technology. Where required, additional training will be provided to support your development into Smart Metering.

There are also excellent opportunities for career progression, with opportunities to develop into specialist and team leader positions.

Additional Information

The role involves periods away from home for classroom-based training and field-based installations. Training and installation locations cannot always be guaranteed to be local to you.

Due to the nature of the role:

  • A medical assessment will be required as part of the recruitment process.
  • Flexibility to travel and stay away from home will be required when necessary.

This is a technically focused electrical installation role, so candidates must be able to demonstrate the required qualifications and relevant installation experience.

When screening candidates, please confirm:

  • Relevant Level 3 electrical qualification / ECS Gold Card or equivalent
  • 18th Edition
  • 2391 or equivalent Inspection & Testing qualification
  • Solar PV qualification
  • Battery Storage / EESS qualification
  • Minimum 2 years' relevant electrical installation experience
  • Experience with Solar PV and Battery Storage installations
  • Understanding of MCS, G98/G99 and DNO applications
  • Full UK/EU driving licence
  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required
  • Awareness that a medical assessment and CRC check will be required
  • Smart Metering, EV or three-phase experience where applicable

Experience and Qualifications - Essential / Desirable

Essential

  • Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (NVQ), City & Guilds 236 with ECS Gold Card, or equivalent
  • BS7671 18th Edition qualification
  • Inspection & Testing certification, such as City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent
  • Level 3 Solar PV qualification, such as C&G 2922
  • Level 3 Electrical Energy Storage Systems / Battery Storage qualification, such as C&G 2923 or LCL EESS
  • Minimum of 2 years' recent experience in domestic or commercial electrical installations
  • Good verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Understanding of MCS installation standards and G98/G99 DNO applications
  • Practical experience installing Solar PV and Battery Storage systems
  • Full valid UK/EU driving licence
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including CDM 2015, NRSWA, Electricity at Work Regulations and relevant IET codes of practice
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and customer requirements
  • Flexibility to stay away from home in hotels nationwide when required
  • A professional and customer-focused approach

Desirable

  • Experience with Dual Fuel Smart Metering and associated equipment
  • Experience with three-phase whole current metering
  • Gas certification evidencing valid CMA/CCN and MET authorisation
  • MOCOPA Electric Certificate
  • EUSR card with relevant Smart Metering authorisations
  • Knowledge and experience of EV charger installations
