About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Systems / Electronic Project Manager to support the delivery of technology, electronic systems and operational infrastructure projects.
This is a heavy industrial and infrastructure-focused role, working across complex, live and safety-critical operational environments. Candidates should have experience delivering projects within sectors such as rail, tunnels, civil engineering, transport, utilities, industrial infrastructure or similar.
The role will involve managing a range of operational technology and electronic systems across assets including tunnels, transport facilities, operational hubs and other critical infrastructure.
The successful candidate must be able to hit the ground running, taking ownership of projects with minimal training or supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage electronic, systems and operational technology projects from initial scope through to completion.
- Develop project scopes, technical briefs and requirements.
- Manage projects involving CCTV, access control, communications, telemetry, control systems, alarms and electronic safety systems.
- Oversee tunnel systems, BMS interfaces, passenger-facing systems and other operational technology.
- Coordinate technical requirements across engineering, asset management and operational teams.
- Manage suppliers, consultants and contractors.
- Review technical designs, specifications and project documentation.
- Coordinate installation, testing, commissioning and integration activities.
- Ensure systems are appropriately integrated, resilient, secure and maintainable.
- Manage project budgets, programmes, risks and delivery.
- Maintain effective documentation and configuration control.
- Ensure works are delivered safely within live and safety-critical operational environments.
- Support cyber/security considerations and ensure appropriate standards and requirements are met.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Systems / Electronic Project Manager with a strong background in heavy industrial, infrastructure or operational technology environments.
Essential requirements:
- Proven experience managing electronic, systems, control or operational technology projects.
- Experience within heavy industrial, infrastructure, rail, tunnels, civil engineering, transport, utilities or similar sectors.
- Previous experience working with or within local authorities is essential.
- Degree-level qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Control Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of electronic systems, operational technology and systems integration.
- Experience with systems such as CCTV, access control, communications, telemetry, control systems, alarms or BMS.
- Experience of system testing, commissioning and integration.
- Strong supplier, contractor and stakeholder management experience.
- Awareness of cyber security and resilience requirements within operational technology environments.
- Experience managing project documentation and technical requirements.
- Strong project, programme, budget and risk management skills.
- Experience working within live, complex and safety-critical environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively with operational, engineering and asset management teams.
- Ability to hit the ground running with minimal training.
- Must be willing and able to commute to the Wallasey office 4 days per week.
