Pay rate: Up to £350 PAYE / £475 Umbrella per day

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset

Hours of work: 3 days on site, 2 remote working

The Cost Engineer will join the Project Controls team, supporting the delivery of a major infrastructure programme. The role focuses on producing and maintaining accurate cost and forecasting data, preparing regular cost reports, analysing project performance, and providing insights to support effective decision-making. Working closely with project managers and wider project controls teams, you'll help ensure robust financial governance, monitor trends and changes, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex engineering and construction projects

Applicants should be able to demonstrate of the following skills/experience:

  • HND (or equivalent) in Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a Project Management environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in a Project Controls discipline, particularly Cost Engineering or Cost & Forecasting.
  • Understanding of project controls methodologies, cost management and forecasting principles.
  • Experience producing and maintaining cost reports, forecasts and performance data.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and reliable data.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Role information:

  • Support the delivery of a major infrastructure project as part of an integrated Project Controls team.
  • Produce and maintain accurate cost and forecasting data across allocated project areas.
  • Prepare regular cost reports, forecasts and performance updates in line with reporting cycles.
  • Monitor project costs, analyse trends, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support the Trend & Change process and provide performance insights to aid decision-making.
  • Work closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure project cost data is maintained within project controls systems (e.g. EcoSys, SAP).
  • Contribute to effective project governance, cost control and forecasting processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and improve project performance.
  • Help deliver projects safely, on time and within budget through accurate cost management and reporting.
