Project Engineering Manager
Location: Sellafield / Whitehaven (minimum 3 days on site/office)
Contract: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Duration: 12 months rolling - 2028/29
Rate: DOE / Inside IR35 / Umbrella hourly rates of pay
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineering Manager.
This role offers the chance to work on a project of national importance, supporting the safe delivery of asset care and retrieval operations within a highly regulated nuclear environment. You'll be part of a forward-thinking, collaborative team delivering complex engineering solutions.
The Role
As Project Engineering Manager, you will provide engineering leadership and technical governance across asset care and maintenance projects, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient delivery of outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams (Mechanical, CE&I, CS&A)
- Act as the engineering authority across asset care work scopes
- Deliver technically robust engineering solutions aligned to programme objectives
- Oversee design, verification, validation and assurance activities
- Lead asset care interventions including:
- Maintenance and repair
- Plant modifications and upgrades
- Equipment replacement and optimisation
- Support plant availability, reliability and retrieval operations
- Manage engineering input across the full project lifecycle (concept to commissioning and handover)
Requirements
- Strong experience in a Project Engineering Manager / similar leadership role
- Proven experience working in operational plant environments
- Knowledge of asset care, maintenance and modification activities
- Experience using Sellafield systems (e.g. CIMAGE desirable)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Valid SQEP for PEM role
- Security Clearance (SC) and British Sole National status required (or the ability to obtain)
- Existing Sellafield pass preferred
Qualifications & Training
- APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (or willingness to complete within 12 months)
- Knowledge of Sellafield gated processes and engineering standards desirable
Working Arrangements
- 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
- Hybrid working with a requirement for minimum 3 days on site/office
- Candidates ideally based locally as must support site attendance needs
