📍 Hybrid - 3 days per week on site in either Bristol or London

💰 Up to £800 per day Umbrella (Inside IR35) depending on experience

📅 Initial contract until end of 2026 with strong likelihood of extension

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Building Architectural Contract Engineering Lead to join a major UK infrastructure megaproject at the forefront of the country's Net Zero ambitions. This role offers the chance to work within a highly complex, technically challenging and heavily regulated environment, supporting the delivery of critical building infrastructure across a nationally significant programme.

Working within a multi-disciplinary design delivery team, you'll take ownership of the engineering and technical management of multiple building packages from basic design through to detailed design. You'll act as the key technical interface between project stakeholders, design partners and programme teams, ensuring delivery to schedule, quality, safety and scope requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery and coordination of building design packages across complex infrastructure projects
  • Manage external design partners and oversee multi-disciplinary engineering activities
  • Ensure designs comply with UK standards, safety requirements and project specifications
  • Coordinate design reviews, technical assessments and constructability reviews
  • Manage technical risks, interfaces, design changes and configuration control
  • Support commercial and project teams with technical input on programme impacts, risks and change management
  • Act as the principal engineering point of contact for assigned contract scope
  • Drive delivery against programme milestones and design deliverables schedules

Experience Required

  • Strong experience managing building design on large-scale infrastructure or highly regulated projects
  • Background in architectural, civil, structural, mechanical or related engineering disciplines
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams and external contractors
  • Solid understanding of UK building standards and engineering procedures (RIBA experience highly desirable)
  • Experience working within nuclear, defence, energy or other highly regulated sectors is highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety requirements and hazard-resistant design would be beneficial
  • Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of UK regulations and engineering standards
  • Chartership desirable but not essential
