Role: Engineering Director
Location: London / Bristol / Manchester / Suffolk (flexible with regular site presence)
Overview
We are supporting the appointment of an Engineering Director for a major UK infrastructure programme. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, responsible for leading programme-wide engineering delivery and ensuring design is delivered to required quality, maturity, cost and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Programme Engineering Teams and Risk & Opportunities function
- Ensure delivery of a safe, mature, high-quality design aligned to cost and schedule
- Drive replication of an existing reference design
- Oversee configuration management and design integration across programmes
- Act as senior escalation point for complex technical challenges
- Discharge Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM regulations
- Lead technical risk management and strategic response to programme-level issues
- Work closely with delivery teams, supply chain and design partners
Candidate Profile
- Director-level experience in major infrastructure or nuclear projects
- Strong background in engineering leadership across complex programmes
- Experience delivering within regulated environments (nuclear highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of design governance, configuration management and risk
- Ability to influence at senior stakeholder level (internal and external)
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent)
