Role information:
We are seeking a capable and motivated Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of engineering projects within an industrial environment. The role involves leading technical activities from early concept development through to commissioning and final handover, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout.
Key Responsibilities
* Capture and define functional requirements and stakeholder expectations for allocated projects.
* Contribute to the development of the Project Execution Plan, including design methodology, safety case strategy, and commissioning approach.
* Support feasibility studies and option evaluations to identify optimal engineering solutions.
* Develop concept designs and deliver practical, fit-for-purpose technical solutions.
* Prepare, review, and authorise technical specifications and engineering documentation.
* Oversee detailed design work, ensuring alignment with design authority requirements and applicable standards.
* Produce and implement engineering modification proposals, acting as Nominated Responsible Engineer when appointed.
* Review and technically assess contractor documentation, including method statements, work instructions, and risk assessments.
* Provide on-site technical oversight during construction or dismantling activities to ensure adherence to design intent.
* Verify and approve as-built documentation.
* Define commissioning and/or decommissioning requirements and provide technical supervision during these phases.
* Manage the transition to operations, ensuring all drawings, procedures, and training materials are complete and delivered.
* Engage regularly with system engineers and key stakeholders to support efficient and coordinated project execution.
* Maintain configuration control across the project lifecycle.
* Adhere to Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality standards, actively promoting continuous improvement.
* Contribute flexibly to project delivery in line with individual skills, knowledge, and competence.
* Investigate on-site and off-site incidents, undertaking root cause analysis to improve processes and working practices.

Qualifications/Experience Required
Essential Requirements
- HNC, degree, or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 5/6 in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in a hands-on engineering role (Mechanical or Electrical) within an industrial plant environment.
- Must have site facing experience
- Experience delivering engineering projects within nuclear and/or conventional sectors.
- Knowledge of applicable organisational and/or national engineering standards.
