Pay Rate: £390 PAYE / up to £530 Umbrella
Start Date: 7 December 2026

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 5 x 7.5-hour days. Core hours 9am-3pm
Job Overview:
We are recruiting for an IPC Commissioning Planning Engineer to join the Central Controls Team supporting the Hinkley Point C Project as it moves into the commissioning phase.
Working within the Planning discipline of Integrated Project Controls (IPC), you will support the management and maintenance of the Level 2/4 Integrated Work Schedule (IWS), ensuring alignment with Level 3 contract schedules and providing high-quality schedule data, analysis and reporting.
The role will support informed decision-making and the effective, timely delivery of work across this major infrastructure project.
Your Responsibilities:
- Produce and maintain the Integrated Work Schedule in Primavera P6, developing fully logic-linked work plans aligned with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Ensure Level 2/4 schedules are maintained and updated within agreed reporting timescales.
- Support the IPC Lead Planner and IPC Planning Manager with project planning and controls activities.
- Align Level 3 contract schedules with the overall Integrated Work Schedule.
- Identify, analyse and provide solutions to schedule and time-related issues.
- Support Trend & Change processes and provide analysis of project risks and opportunities.
- Produce project-level schedule reports, including commentary on key schedule drivers and performance issues.
- Provide intelligent planning information and analysis to support Senior Project and Programme Managers.
- Work closely with Cost, Risk, Estimating, Performance Analysis and other Project Controls disciplines.
- Ensure planning information is aligned across the wider Integrated Project Controls function.
- Manage schedule changes and help resolve planning issues with key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with project governance, scheduling standards and procedures.
- Support continuous improvement and best practice across the Planning discipline.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong understanding of scheduling methodologies and techniques.
- Excellent working knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Experience producing accurate and fully logic-linked project/construction schedules.
- Strong understanding of engineering, procurement and construction methods.
- Previous experience within Project Controls or Project Management on a major construction or infrastructure project.
- Understanding of Earned Value Management/Analysis (EVM/EVA).
- Knowledge of Cost, Estimating and Risk disciplines within Project Controls.
- Understanding of commercial contracts, particularly NEC and FIDIC.
- Knowledge of schedule risk analysis techniques.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Strong stakeholder management, written communication and verbal communication skills.
Desirable experience includes:
- Nuclear sector experience.
- Experience on major infrastructure programmes.
- EcoSys and Earned Value Management.
- ARM or similar risk management tools.
- Synchro 4D modelling.
- Acumen Fuse schedule analysis.
- Power BI.
- SAP.
- CEMAR.
- Safran / QSRA.
- Experience presenting complex project information to senior stakeholders.
Experience/Qualifications Required:
- Degree in Engineering, Construction or a related discipline, OR HND/equivalent supported by appropriate industry experience.
- Chartered or equivalent professional status.
- Proven experience in a Project Management or Project Controls environment in a similar scheduling/planning role.
- Major construction project experience.
- Substantial experience using scheduling software, ideally Primavera P6 version 7 or above.
- Commercial contracting experience.
- Experience working with integrated project schedules and complex project controls environments.
