We are currently recruiting for a Data Analyst to join our client's team during an exciting period of system and process change.

This is a hands-on, operational data role that will support the team as they transition onto and work with new systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, matching, validating and reconciling data to ensure information is accurate and processed correctly.

The role is highly manual and requires someone who enjoys working with detailed information, investigating discrepancies and following data through different stages of a process.

What you'll be doing

  • Manually reviewing, matching and reconciling data within internal systems.
  • Identifying related records and ensuring information is correctly linked.
  • Investigating unmatched, incomplete or inconsistent data.
  • Carrying out detailed data checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identifying discrepancies and investigating the root cause.
  • Working through data exceptions and outstanding items to ensure they are progressed correctly.
  • Supporting the transition to new systems by checking that data has transferred and is processing as expected.
  • Carrying out system and process testing where required.
  • Maintaining accurate records and clear audit trails.
  • Liaising with internal teams and external industry partners to resolve data queries.
  • Identifying recurring issues and highlighting opportunities to improve processes.
  • Supporting reporting on workloads, outstanding items, trends and performance.
  • Managing high volumes of data while maintaining a strong level of accuracy.

Essential

  • Experience working with high volumes of data in a data, operational or administrative environment.
  • Strong experience of manually matching, reconciling and validating data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify and investigate data discrepancies, errors and unmatched records.
  • Strong problem-solving and investigative skills, with the ability to follow an issue through to resolution.
  • Comfortable carrying out detailed and repetitive manual data tasks.
  • Experience working across multiple systems and data sources.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage high-volume workloads and priorities.
  • Good communication skills and confidence liaising with internal stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Knowledge of metering, billing or settlement data/processes.
  • Experience in a Data Analyst, Data Quality, Data Reconciliation, Data Administrator or Operations Analyst role.
  • Experience supporting a new system implementation, migration or transformation programme.
  • Experience with system/UAT testing and validating data following system changes.
  • Experience of root-cause analysis and identifying recurring data/process issues.
  • Understanding of data governance, compliance and audit requirements.
  • Experience within another regulated or data-heavy environment, such as financial services, banking or telecoms.
