Job Title: Quality Inspector

Overview:

You will be based in Manchester, joining a team of over 80 professionals working on a major overhaul project for the Class 390 Avanti High Speed Trains. Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Senior Production Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities which can be broadly described as 'total quality', ensuring the products and services meet the highest possible standard and adhere to standard. Active monitoring, auditing, continuous improvement, and engagement, are required to provide assurance and strive for customer satisfaction. As part of the role, there will be a required level of support to product safety, and raising awareness of product safety, human factors, and improving the Quality/Safety culture.

Organisational Reporting:

Reporting to the Senior Production Manager - Overhauls Supported by the Project Quality Manager

Shift Pattern:

Days and Nights on a 2-week shift rotation

Hours:

48 hours per week

Quality Inspector

Pre 12 weeks: PAYE £24.52 per hour (28 days accrued leave) / Umbrella £31.73 per hour.

Post 12 weeks: PAYE £24.52 per hour (33 days accrued leave) / Umbrella £33.49 per hour.

An additional retainer of £1.00 per hour on all hours worked will be payable.

This is subject to tooling returned in satisfactory condition and you have completed the project.

This role is inside of IR35 regulations and therefore PAYE or Umbrella Company payment options apply.

Qualifications and Skills required:

An academic qualification of ONC/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline. (Preferred but not essential)

Desired Technical Knowledge / Experience

A wide practical knowledge of manufacturing techniques and their relationship to quality systems such as those defined in ISO: -9001-2015, RISAS, EN14001 etc. * At least 5 years related experience within engineering, mechanical, Electromechanical and/or electronic equipment. * Knowledge of Railway Industry Standards. * Key skill - Able to build effective working relationships * Key Skill - Excellent communication skills. * Conversant with Microsoft Office, SAP, good level of IT literacy. * Team player. * Proactive approach. * Problem solving techniques. * Understanding of ALSTOM drawing, systems and procedures. * View quality and deadlines as 'musts' to be achieved.

Requirements

• You must live within a reasonable travelling distance to our client 's facility in Manchester City Centre
• You must have the right to work in the UK and be able to provide proof of technical qualification.

Performance Measurement

• Produce monthly Pareto Analysis monitors regarding performance.
• Monthly defect analysis reports for the production managers
• Compliance to the internal Audit Plan

Responsibilities

• Responding to customers, suppliers and the workshop whenever product service and quality problems are encountered. · Resolving problems from any source related to product service and quality. · Ensuring the correct use and revision or upgrade of product specifications and drawings, liaison with sub-contractors to provide timely information. · Ensuring adequate feedback on defects and causes through detailed analysis. · Identifying necessary improvements in the quality system and implementing changes to quality procedures. · Carry out inspection of product against drawings and specifications requirements. · Carrying out internal and external product audits · Auditing of quality system procedures. · Monitoring of corrective and preventative actions and close out of CAR 's from Customer, Internal or External · H &S audits. · Improving product safety, and total quality culture. · Raising and encouraging safe behaviours using the close call system.

Due to working in a safety critical environment, you will be subject to Drugs and Alcohol Testing and will follow strict Health & Safety controls and guidelines.
