Job Purpose / Overview

NNB is leading the UK's Nuclear New Build Programme, supporting delivery of Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. The Integrated Project Controls Cost and Forecasting team acts as a centre of excellence, providing a single source of delivery performance information across key project areas including Central, Site, Engineering, MEH, Nuclear Island, Conventional Island, Balance of Plant, Instrumentation and Controls, and Commissioning.

The Senior Cost Engineer will act as a technical lead for Cost and Forecasting, ensuring consistent application of processes, governance and reporting across the HPC project. They will support accurate, timely project controls information and manage contracts ranging from £10m to £500m.

The role also includes directing day-to-day workload and providing guidance to Cost Engineers and Trainee Cost Engineers.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead Cost and Forecasting management for the nominated Programme/Area, giving stakeholders confidence in cost control, analysis and reporting.
  • Produce, maintain and assure accurate cost and forecast data aligned to CBS/WBS and managed in systems such as EcoSys and SAP.
  • Deliver scheduled Cost and Forecasting reports with clear commentary on key drivers, performance issues and data quality.
  • Support Programme/Area Directors through issue reviews, workshops, scenario planning, data analysis and challenge of uncertainties.
  • Work with IPC, PCM teams and Tier 1 Contractors to ensure schedules, estimates, risks and opportunities are informed by high-quality data.
  • Recommend improvements to Cost and Forecasting processes, reporting, tools and dashboards.
  • Produce and present accurate project controls information for reviews, boards and risk forums.
  • Lead Cost and Forecasting training for Programme/Area teams, the PM community and apprentices.

  • Provide clear, evidence-based Cost and Forecasting insight using commercial and technical data to support decisions and manage risks/opportunities.
  • Integrate Cost and Forecasting with schedule, risk and change, ensuring alignment with wider project controls data.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational and time management skills.
  • Confident facilitator and communicator, able to explain complex issues to technical and non-technical senior stakeholders.
  • Able to prioritise, delegate, collaborate across teams and assure the quality of others' work.
  • Expert user of Cost and Forecasting software, with the ability to guide others and apply industry best practice.

  • May have line management, coaching or junior team development experience.

Qualifications & Experience

  • HND or equivalent in project management, project controls, engineering or a related discipline.
  • Cost and Forecasting qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Project management environment experience, with expert knowledge of project controls and Cost and Forecasting tools and techniques.
  • Minimum ten years' senior Cost and Forecasting experience in a complex, regulated industry, ideally nuclear or energy.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and integrating multiple project controls disciplines.
  • Major construction, nuclear, regulated industry and leadership experience are desirable.

Tools and Software

  • Expert user of Microsoft Office, Teamcenter, EcoSys, Power BI and SAP, or equivalent tools.
