Hours: Typically 40 hours per week (5 days on-site, with potential weekend flexibility required)
Rate: £350 per day (PAYE) | £475 per day (Umbrella)
Security Clearance: BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) & DBS vetting required
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer (Welding / NDT) to join the NNB Surveillance team at Hinkley Point C, one of Europe's largest and most dynamic construction projects.
In this role, you will carry out essential quality surveillance on construction, installation, and assembly activities performed by contractors on-site. Your focus will centre on mechanical equipment, including static and rotating equipment, piping, and pipe supports. Working as part of a collaborative quality team, you will ensure all contractor activities align strictly with the Work Information, contract specifications, and the project's high quality targets.
Key Responsibilities
Execute Quality Surveillance: Conduct regular surveillance of mechanical construction, installation, and assembly activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications and contractor Work Information.
Contract Delivery Support: Form an integral part of the surveillance team, assisting the Team Lead in delivering core contractual duties and protecting project integrity.
Standards & Assurance: Ensure that all HPC quality needs, safety standards, and project expectations are consistently met or exceeded by the supply chain.
Reporting: Document, log, and escalate any variances or quality concerns in line with project governance procedures.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering installation, specifically within welding and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methodologies in a highly regulated sector.
Experience: Proven track record as a Field Engineer or Quality Inspector on major infrastructure, nuclear, or oil & gas projects.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical equipment installation (static/rotating equipment, piping systems, and supports) and associated welding/NDT standards.
Compliance: Ability to successfully pass BPSS baseline vetting and DBS checks prior to mobilization.
Attributes: Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to comfortably operate in a demanding, fast-paced site environment.
