Technical Author

Role information:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of engineering projects from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with technical, safety, and quality standards. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve efficient and effective project outcomes.

Qualifications/Experience Required

Identify and define functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projects.

Contribute to the development of Project Execution Plans, including design, safety case, and commissioning strategies.

Support the project optioneering process and development of viable engineering solutions.

Produce and/or approve technical specifications for projects.

Manage detailed design activities in line with relevant design authority standards.

Prepare modification proposals and act as Nominated Responsible Engineer where required.

Review and approve contractors' work instructions, method statements, and risk assessments.

Provide technical oversight of construction and deconstruction activities to ensure alignment with design intent.

Review and approve as-built drawings.

Define and oversee commissioning and/or decommissioning activities.

Manage project handover to operations, ensuring all documentation, instructions, and training requirements are met.

Engage with system engineers and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to support successful delivery.

Maintain configuration control across the project lifecycle.

Ensure compliance with Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality (EHSSQ) standards, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Contribute flexibly to project delivery based on individual skills, knowledge, and experience.

Conduct reviews of on-site and off-site events, including root cause analysis, to improve working practices.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience in preparing Close Out documentation.

Strong capability in collating and archiving project records.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, with strong skills in document creation and formatting.

Competence in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Experience or familiarity with Power BI and AI tools is desirable.

Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach to document management.

Ability to identify and resolve gaps in project records by coordinating with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.

Effective team player, able to work within a multidisciplinary environment across a varied project portfolio.

Relevant qualification (HNC, Degree,).

Experience in a disciplined engineering role (Mechanical or Electrical) within an industrial plant environment.

Experience in nuclear and/or conventional project engineering.

Understanding of relevant company and/or national engineering standards.
