Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering support across infrastructure projects at Hinkley Point A. The role involves ensuring designs meet required standards, supervising construction/deconstruction activities, and maintaining configuration control throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage engineering activities across assigned projects, from concept through handover.
Develop and review technical specifications, design solutions, and project documentation.
Supervise construction/deconstruction to ensure alignment with design intent.
Maintain site configuration control of drawings, documentation, and project records.
Support the preparation of Project Execution Plans, including design, commissioning, and decommissioning strategies.
Participate in optioneering processes and provide fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
Approve contractors' technical submissions, method statements, and risk assessments.
Liaise with system engineers and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
Support continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality practices on site.
Deputise for Section Head and undertake emergency scheme duties when required.
Essential Requirements
NQF Level 5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (degree/NQF Level 6 desirable).
Proven experience in mechanical engineering within industrial or nuclear projects.
Strong knowledge of national engineering standards and regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrable experience delivering project engineering activities from design to handover.
Customer-focused with excellent stakeholder communication skills.
Desirable Experience
Working knowledge of Safety Rules and risk assessment methodology.
Familiarity with Site Licence, Quality Management System, and CDM Designer responsibilities.
Experience with contract management and multi-disciplinary project delivery.
