Frontend Engineer - React (Contract)

Overview

We're looking for an experienced Frontend Engineer to join a Digital team on an initial 3-6 month contract, working remotely and inside IR35. This is a hands-on delivery role for a contractor who can quickly embed into an agile environment and contribute to building high-quality, scalable digital products.

You'll work closely with designers, engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver clean, maintainable frontend solutions, helping shape user-focused experiences while supporting rapid, iterative delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain frontend applications using modern React-based technologies

• Work collaboratively with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality features

• Contribute to technical design decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable and maintainable

• Write and maintain unit tests to support robust and reliable codebases

• Support continuous improvement of development practices, tooling, and pipelines

• Actively participate in agile ceremonies and delivery activities

Essential Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience developing frontend applications using React

• Strong experience with Next.js

• Hands-on experience using Apollo GraphQL

• Solid understanding of unit testing, ideally using Jest and/or Vitest

• Excellent software design, problem-solving, and debugging skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows

• Ability to onboard quickly and deliver effectively in a contract environment
