As a Project Engineer, you will oversee, coordinate, and technically guide engineering activities within your discipline Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Process, Systems, or HVAC/Utilities across major infrastructure or nuclear projects. You will ensure design integrity, regulatory compliance, constructability, and operational excellence while acting as a key link between engineering, contractors, procurement, construction, safety and regulatory bodies.
We are also open to newly qualified engineers with strong potential who are eager to learn, grow and be mentored including early career engineers with around 3+ years' experience providing a development pathway into full project engineering responsibility.
Main Responsibilities will include:
Design & Technical Leadership
* Act as a system/design owner, ensuring technical requirements are defined, understood and maintained.
* Identify and validate system requirements and ensure traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
* Provide design input and review contractor deliverables as the "intelligent customer".
* Ensure engineering solutions comply with requirements, codes & standards, and safety basis (PSAR/POSAR).
* Maintain control of the design baseline during configuration and change management.
Project & Contractor Management
* Coordinate and supervise engineering contractor activities throughout design, installation and commissioning.
* Review and approve system designs, documents, test plans and technical change requests.
* Act as Work Package Owner for contractor led scope.
* Support procurement, construction and commissioning teams by providing discipline technical insight.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Interface
* Work closely with internal teams including QA/QC, construction, operations and design authority.
* Support interface with regulatory/licensing bodies (e.g., ANVS or equivalent).
* Resolve technical issues, risks and non-conformances collaboratively across disciplines.
Experience/Qualifications:
* Degree in a core Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls/I&C, Process, Systems Engineering or related).
* Around 3-5 years' engineering experience in a complex or highly regulated industrial environment (nuclear desirable; energy/aerospace/pharma accepted).
* Experience supporting system or equipment design and reviewing technical documentation.
* Ability to coordinate external suppliers and contractors.
* Exposure to nuclear projects or research reactors (e.g., RA-10, RMB, OPAL, FRM, BR II, or PWR lifecycle) - Desirable
* Familiarity with safety case development (PSAR/POSAR or equivalent) - Desirable
* Understanding of HVAC, utilities, plant services or industrial control systems - Desirable
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
* Analytical thinker with sound engineering judgement.
* Fluent in English MUST; Dutch advantageous
