The STEP Technical Risk Manager will play a central role in the identification, analysis and communication of technical risk across the STEP programme.
With a foundation in Engineering and excellent risk management skills, the risk manager will take systems-oriented view of key technology areas; identifying areas where system or technology selection may affect the delivery of the SPP.
Engaging with each IPT, the role holder will identify and compare technology maturity and risk across areas, ensuring a consistent and proportionate degree of rigour, tolerance and pragmatism is being applied across each.
This work will see the role holder undertaking work across a number of areas from technology demonstration, through to complex plant equipment and first of a kind technologies.

Success in this role will see the risk manager:
* Bridging the detail of the design with the big-picture, systems view of the SPP, highlighting risk early and assisting in strategies to derisk in line with programme objectives.
* Supporting teams in options analysis
* Creation and maintenance of risk-related artefacts


Accountability 1: Creation and maintenance of a technical risk implementation plan
* Develop and implement risk management approaches that incorporate best practice and procedures for identifying, managing and driving down technical risk
* Creation of accompanying processes and ways of working that support risk management activities
* Interfacing with data and reporting teams to present and take action over technical risk
* Implementation of risk registers and unifying artefacts in the STEP PLM solution

Accountability 2: Facilitation of risk management activity
* Facilitate workshops and engage with project teams to ensure the effective implementation of risk management.
* Provide risk expertise and advice on risk and contingency management (in accordance with procedures) into sites, projects and programmes;
* Facilitation of risk management process including facilitation of risk and assumption workshops across programmes & sites to ensure quality risks are identified, properly documented and reviewed regularly
