We are seeking a talented Network Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure, resilient, and high-performing network infrastructure. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that directly support the UK's mission to deliver sustainable, carbon-free energy.
The Role
As a Network Engineer, you will:
* Design, implement, and maintain secure and efficient network infrastructures
* Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
* Monitor and optimise network performance, proactively resolving issues
* Manage network security with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and related technologies
* Provide technical support to end-users and resolve network/security-related incidents
* Collaborate closely with other IT teams to ensure systems support wider business goals
* Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation (diagrams, configs, process flows)
* Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies
* Balance multiple projects, BAU activities, and ad hoc challenges effectively
About You
We're looking for someone with:
* A minimum HND in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent qualification
* Professional certifications such as CCNA, NSE4 Fortigate, or equivalent (desirable)
* 3+ years' experience in network/security engineering
* Strong technical knowledge across TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, OSPF, IPSEC, SSL, VRF, BGP, NextGen Firewall
* Hands-on experience with Aruba/HP, Extreme & Fortinet network devices
* A solid understanding of network security principles and tools
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
* The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
