Overview
We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead technical engineering studies and provide specialist input across all project phases in the nuclear sector. The role combines technical delivery, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and manage mechanical engineering studies from concept through to detailed design, manufacture, construction, commissioning, and operations support.
- Produce and review technical deliverables, including reports, flow diagrams, P&IDs, drawings, layouts, hazard assessments, and specifications.
- Oversee and provide input into supply chain documentation, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Undertake studies and develop solutions for handling systems, powder processing, glovebox operations, dismantling, and compaction technologies in high-hazard environments.
- Resolve technical queries with suppliers and ensure design intent is met.
- Act as a key technical contact for stakeholders and support the development of junior engineers.

Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Chartered Engineer (IMechE) or working towards chartership.
7-8+ years' mechanical engineering experience in the nuclear sector (essential).
Knowledge of design processes (concept, FEED, detailed design, supply chain review, commissioning).
Experience delivering mechanical studies covering handling systems, powder processes, and glovebox operations, with consideration for manufacture, testing, operation, and decommissioning.
Experience working in regulated, multi-disciplinary teams.
All candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance.
