Management Accountant
12-month secondment/FTC (starting Sept 2025)
Manchester city centre (hybrid working)
We're looking for a Management Accountant to join our client on a 12-month fixed-term contract to help enable commercial decision-making that drives the performance of their Food Retail business area. We'll look to you to support the delivery of high-profile continuous improvement projects and provide valuable insights (based on financial data) to spot potential risks and opportunities. In this role you'll work in a hybrid way - splitting your time between home and the office.
What you'll do
- Provide financial support to the relevant budget owners; helping to ensure the accuracy of performance results that directly impact decision-making
- Provide robust financial control over the monthly management accounts; making sure that deadlines are met and delivered to a high standard
- Utilise the appropriate balance sheet accounts to ensure risks are understood and managed effectively
This role would suit people who have
- An accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and improving financial processes
- Familiarity with accountancy systems such as SAP/Cognos (desirable, not essentiall).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- Support delivery of key activities for the team including audit and move to SAP as the main accounting ledger
