Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Safe Engineer to join the Heat Networks CHP team on a temporary 6-12 month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient calibration and exchange of gas meters across E.ON's Combined Heat and Power (CHP) district heating networks.
This role involves overseeing gas meter installations, safe isolation, purging, and re-commissioning of gas systems, ensuring compliance with Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations and CHPQA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee gas meter calibration and exchange across CHP district heating schemes.
- Ensure safe isolation, testing, purging, and re-commissioning of gas systems.
- Carry out work in accordance with Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations and industry best practice.
- Record all work accurately in the CMMS (Microsoft Dynamics) system.
- Work within Energy Centres, ensuring safety, compliance, and reliability of installations.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Commercial Gas Safe certification (COCN1 as a minimum)
- Proven experience with high-pressure gas systems and gas boosters
- Competence in testing and purging of gas systems (TPCP1 / TPCP1A)
- Skilled in gas meter exchange and commissioning
- IT proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Dynamics or similar CMMS)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take a professional and diplomatic approach
Desirable Skills
- Experience with CHP engines - commissioning, operating, and maintenance
- MET4 - Gas Metering competency
- Health & Safety training (CSCS, First Aid, IOSH/SMSTS beneficial)
