The Land Surveyor is the link between the Survey Manager and the field. The Land Surveyor will take responsibility of collecting survey measurements and data as part of:
* Contractors' surveillance process
* Survey network installation
* Monitoring activities on permanent buildings
* Various topographical surveys and other survey works

The Land Surveyor will be a staunch advocate of our Nuclear Safety Culture and help to embed this approach in all processes and activities undertaken on the Project. The scope will cover all Works associated with the construction of the designated section of the Project and the post holder will perform surveillance on activities of the Works Contractors.

Principal Accountabilities

* Collect and process survey data and assess this data against the tolerances within the specification.
* Notify the Survey Manager and wider construction teams of any deviations or non-conformance
* Create reports on completed measurement using a range of software and compile these reports onto an online reporting system.
* Measure and maintain survey control across site using a range of measurement methods. Record this measurement in technical documents to then be issued to the wider construction teams for use on site.
* Review and make comment on the contractor's survey and measurement procedures. Ensure that the contractor follows these procedures and raise any issues to the Survey Manager.
* Develop and maintain an understanding of construction drawings, construction activities, Quality Control Plans and Quality Inspection Records.
* To manage and organise the survey workload within his allocated construction area.
* To write the survey inspection reports, technical documents to be approved by Survey Team Manager or Lead Surveyor.
* To ensure that all activities carried out is in accordance with the specifications and documents applicable to that work.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Essential
* A minimum of HND in a Land Survey/Engineering Surveying or equivalent vocational training and experience
* Excellent organisation, delegation and communication skills. Ability to work within a high performing team that continuously outperforms expectations and objectives
* Ability to be flexible in their approach, prioritise work and remain resilient and focused when under pressure
* General profession skills such as accuracy, tenacity, diplomacy and results orientation
* Good survey technical knowledge:
- Experience in using a range of instruments such as Total station, Digital level, Scanner, GPS (rover and static) especially Leica although other systems are welcomed.
- Survey data processing and quality checking
- Technical survey report writing experience preferred
- AutoCAD basic proficiency as minimum

Desirable

* Experience of using survey adjustment software to calculate level, total station and GPS networks.
* 5 years' experience in a large industrial/project environment would be advantageous
* General understanding of the post's obligations under CDM Regulations - along with an understanding of the document and drawing approvals processes
* Strong communication skills in English are required, and knowledge of French could be an advantage
* Experience in the use of electronic handheld devices to capture information
