MBSE Lead Systems Engineering

To provide professional Systems Engineering services across a range of the STEP programme and in collaboration with our partners.
The role will provide technical leadership for the Systems Engineering MBSE competency within UKIFS; working closely with the Systems Engineering Manager, they will understand the current maturity of systems engineering activities and define credible strategies for continuously improving the rigour and added value from these activities.
The role will provide technical mentorship and coaching to more junior members of the team and project team members to ensure we increase MBSE and systems thinking skills.
The role will provide hands-on Systems Engineering support to projects at all lifecycle stages, from establishing the initial outline requirements, through the design and implementation phases, to the verification that the final delivered solution meets the original design intent.
They are required to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the System Engineering toolkit and MBSE methodologies and bring with them the practical experience of having applied these in a range of different situations.
Accountability 1: Lead Development of MBSE (Technical Lead)
* Develop and sustain a systems engineering MBSE capability;
* Assist in developing and implementing the UKIFS technical strategy for systems engineering;
* Promote the value and benefits of systems engineering;
* Provide leadership, training, coaching and mentoring;
- Define, implement and continuously improve systems engineering processes and toolsets.
Accountability 2: Provide systems engineering capability (Core area)
* Lead and manage the technical development of a system throughout the project lifecycle;
* Ensure the delivery of assured products and services;
* Research, elicit, capture, develop and manage requirements;
* Define and manage verification and validation activities;
Accountability 3: Support Engineering Delivery
* Define and manage interfaces;
* Develop and maintain the functional and physical architectures / definitions of systems;
* Implement Model Based Systems Engineering techniques;
* Conduct trade-off analysis and optioneering studies;
* Conduct analysis activities to improve system performance and safety.

What skills and experience you'll bring to us
Essential:
A relevant degree in a recognised STEM subject
* Significant Knowledge and experience of Systems Engineering
* Experience of embedding MBSE Systems Engineering processes into organisations
* Previous experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams, developing complex systems
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Demonstrable interpersonal skills and collaborative behaviours
* Professional registration as Chartered Engineer with recognized engineering institution (e.g. IET, IMechE etc.)
* Membership/Accreditation with INCOSE.
* Experience in using 3DS tools
