Hinkley Point C is the UK's first new nuclear power station in over 25 years - a once-in-a-generation project delivering low-carbon electricity for over six million homes. We're seeking a Construction Delivery Lead (Mechanical bias) to play a pivotal role in delivering critical construction works within the Nuclear Island of the project. This is a key opportunity to contribute to one of Europe's most complex and high-profile engineering projects while developing your expertise in a truly world-class environment. If you're an experienced construction delivery professional with a background in mechanical, electrical, or heavy industrial construction - and you thrive in large, high-pressure, technically challenging environments - this is a career-defining opportunity.
About the Role
As a Construction Delivery Lead, you'll oversee the mechanical and electrical construction activities carried out by Tier 1 contract partners within your assigned area of the Hinkley Point C site.
You'll lead a team of Construction Delivery Managers (CDMs) and work in close coordination with Area Leads, Senior Construction Delivery Managers, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery.
This role requires strong leadership, hands-on site presence, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships across engineering, logistics, commercial, and safety functions.
Principal Accountabilities
- Lead and develop a team of Construction Delivery Managers, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant site delivery.
- Oversee all mechanical and electrical construction activities within allocated work areas.
- Drive adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, contributing to KPI targets and safety culture.
- Chair and lead weekly planning meetings (PLOWs) and construction coordination meetings with Tier 1 contractors.
- Ensure project milestones, sequencing, and short-term plans are achieved to programme.
- Manage interfaces between adjoining sections and disciplines, ensuring smooth coordination and communication.
- Oversee logistics, labour allocation, temporary works, and field execution in collaboration with the wider delivery team.
- Support mobilisation of new contractors, ensuring all readiness requirements are met.
- Lead quality assurance processes, including review and approval of documentation, surveillance, and lifetime records.
- Contribute to project reporting, performance tracking, and risk management activities.
Candidate Profile
You'll be a seasoned construction leader with extensive experience in mechanical, electrical, or heavy engineering delivery on large, complex, and safety-critical projects.
You bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to drive performance through collaboration, communication, and leadership.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Proven experience managing large-scale construction delivery in regulated sectors (nuclear, petrochemical, chemical, or pharmaceutical).
- Excellent knowledge of construction sequencing, site logistics, and resource planning.
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations and site safety management.
- Experience leading and developing teams in complex, high-value environments.
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in reporting, short-term planning, and issue resolution.
- NEBOSH, IOSH or SMSTS qualification.
Desirable:
- Prior experience working on nuclear or major EPC projects.
- Experience working in high-security or safety-critical environments.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts and Tier 1 contractor management.
Why Join Hinkley Point C?

- Work in one of the most technically advanced and safety-driven construction environments in Europe.
- Develop your expertise in large-scale mechanical and electrical construction delivery.
