The passing of Themis Saoulli, Rullion Founder and former Chairman

Themis Saoulli, Rullion Founder and former Chairman

Born: November 16, 1941 in Cairo, Egypt

Died: May 2, 2024 in Nicosia, Cyprus age 82

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved founder and former Chairman, Themis Saoulli.

Themis died at his home in Nicosia, Cyprus on Thursday 2nd May 2024. He was surrounded by close family.

An entrepreneur and a visionary, Themis founded Rullion, in 1978 with his wife, Jean. At the time the couple were in Libya and Themis saw an opportunity to supply engineering staff to American and British companies out there.

Over the next four decades, under Themis’ leadership, what started out as a company with just three employees, Rullion grew exponentially into the UK’s 16th largest recruitment company, with a turnover of just under half a billion pounds, and an organisation known for its specialisms within the engineering and technology sectors.

Described as “a force of nature and a true gentleman”, Themis was an inspiration to the many people who worked closely with him.

He was a larger-than-life personality, with a kind and generous nature, and had the uncanny propensity to inspire, terrify and make people laugh, all in equal measure, and often in the space of the same meeting! But as Themis always said of himself, his bark was worse than his bite.

Born to Greek parents in Cairo, Egypt, Themis’ ethos was to create an organisation that builds and nurtures relationships, by putting people first, and today Rullion works with some of the biggest household names in the UK across multiple industries and disciplines, including nuclear, utilities, retail, rail, and non-banking financial services to construction and infrastructure, IT/technology, professional services and renewables.

Themis is survived by his wife, three children and four grandchildren.
