Job Description

Overall job role:

Finance Business Partner within two major divisions, provide a key role in supporting the delivery of business objectives. Providing planning & analysis, accounting, reporting and costing support to inform decision making and drive financial performance. Whether providing financial input into a new business case or closing the monthly accounts, accuracy, timeliness, collaboration and understanding of performance essential.

Main duties:

  • Preparation and analysis of month end accounts for Computing and Integrating Engineering, ensuring accurate recognition of expenditure & revenue in accordance with UKAEA financial policy. Working closely with the senior Finance Business Partner, your business area and in collaboration with the broader finance team.
  • Support the maintenance of a robust control environment, including responsibility for relevant balance sheet accounts appropriate to the business area, such as prepayments, accruals, Work in Progress, Income in Advance are fully reconciled with adequate supporting documentation available for audit purposes.
  • To provide costing information into project managers in both areas and finance review of proposals as required, to enable bids and contracts to be issued on a timely basis.
  • Support the business budgeting and forecast processes, build productive relationship with project managers to enable the creation of robust budgets and periodic forecasts at project.
  • To produce formal financial customer reports and liaise with auditors (UK and European) to facilitate payment for work performed.
  • To follow up on debtors reports to make sure that are kept to a minimum and following up any queries raised.
  • Raise invoices for both areas for all the grants.
  • Review and analyse performance, producing reports and commentary for individual project managers and business unit management to enable monitoring of profitability against budget and recommend corrective action if required.
  • Chasing old Purchase Orders to be closed or action accordingly.

Time spend in each of the areas will be Computing 75% and Integrating Engineering 25%.

Essential.

  • AAT qualified and/or part-qualified CIMA/ACCA.
  • Advance knowledge of Excel (Pivot, Xlookup, Sumif, …)
  • Knowledge on how to use Word, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • Communication Skills.
  • Previous experience working with ERP packages.
  • Able to consolidate large quantities of data into a coherence presentation.

Desirable.

  • Knowledge of U4BW (Agresso).
