Quantity Surveyor
Bridgwater/Hybrid 3-4 days on site expected
Up to £300.00pd PAYE Contract (+ 36 days paid leave) or up to £400.00pd via approved umbrella
Initial CED 31/12/2024

The Quantity Surveyor will be required to work closely and pro-actively with internal and external stakeholders within the Nuclear Island Programme. Using industry best practice to measure supplier performance and assessing schedule adherence against an agreed baseline plan

Principal Accountabilities

Drive supplier performance through regular point-of-work assessment against the agreed baseline plan. Verification of site activity and productivity and acting as a clear point of contact for daily event forms.

Other accountabilities include:

* Reporting and providing support to a Senior Commercial Manager and/or Commercial Lead including assessing the scope, duration and expected value of each of the Suppliers event forms providing sound evidence to counterclaim.
* Collecting and presenting primary data to substantiate events.
* Acute analysis of schedule adherence, comparing the as planned versus as built schedule.
* Validating and challenging supplier events.
* Monitoring performance against the plan by carrying out point of work surveillance.
* The Quantity Surveyor will be expected to have an in-depth understanding of NEC and FIDIC based contracts.
* Being able to evaluate and present supplier performance in a complex environment with a complex contract.
* Bring industry best practices to drive supplier performance within the frameworks of the contract.
* Administration of commercial management tools including, but not limited to, CEMAR and SAP.
* Support to the Senior Commercial Manager and/or Commercial Lead and or Project Managers in drafting board papers to ensure timely approval thought HPC Governance
* Always demonstrate HPC project principles, including proactive accountable behaviours.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

* Good communication, influencing and analytical skills to deliver supplier performance analysis to all levels.
* Can demonstrate track record of project monitoring and assessment with clear knowledge of best practice methodologies.
* Good commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value.
* Educated to degree level is preferable.
* Good understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management, change and claim management.
* Familiar with NEC & FIDIC contracts in the power and/or construction industry and major projects; with knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function is essential.
* Familiar with nuclear site licence conditions, the nuclear baseline philosophy, and the UK regulatory framework.
* Able to employ collaborative behaviours, lead by example and act proactively and positively upon feedback on personal attitudes/ behaviours.
* Progressing to full membership of the RICS or equivalent professional body is preferred.
