Job title: Emergency Planning Specialist

Job Type: Contract

IR35 Status: Inside

Start date: Immediate

Duration: Up to Dec 2024 (Extension possible beyond this)

Pay rate: Up to £30.95 per hour, PAYE/Umbrella.

Location: Remote working - Must be willing to travel to Bridgwater/Bristol 1-2 times a month for a overnight stay if required.

Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 5 days

Our client, a leading player within the Nuclear industry, now has an immediate requirement for a Emergency Planning Specialist to join their team based in Gloucester. Remote working is available for the right candidate with a expected travel to Bridgwater/Bristol 1-2 times a month on occasions. You will be required to provide technical direction and support to the Emergency Planning function specifically in the development of the emergency arrangements within the Nuclear industry. You will use your expertise and experience to provide an integrated approach to the delivery emergency planning programme solutions.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate of the following skills/experience:

  • Posses a strong Engineering/Technical background.
  • Previous experience in the development and delivery of emergency arrangements is essential.
  • Experience in working in nuclear power or similar high hazard industries is beneficial.
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards.
  • A positive attitude to identifying and supporting change initiatives.

Role information:

  • Stress testing of the proposed Emergency Response Organisation.
  • Support for the development of a defined project exercise programme that details to the regulator the path to achieving proof of concept / modular approach to demonstrate the emergency arrangements.
  • Support to the Nuclear Skills Alliance to enable them to complete the production of training materials and courses associated to the proposed emergency response organisation roles.
  • Development of an Off-Site Support Strategy including for the integration with local emergency responders and local authority.
  • Liaise with HPC Pre-Ops and Environment Teams.
  • Liaise with key individuals in other functions regarding development of emergency arrangements.
  • Development and deployment of effective emergency scheme-training programs.
  • Development and deployment of effective emergency scheme- documentation and procedures.
  • The nature of work activities may require the post holder to be able to work away from base location at regular intervals.
