Duration: Long-term 12 month rolling contract (to 2028/29)

Pay rate: DOE

Location: Whitehaven

Hybrid: 3 days min per week from office/site

Hours of work: 40 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Responsible Engineer (RE) to join a major project.

You'll be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on a project of national importance, collaborating closely with both the client and supply chain to deliver key engineering outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure all plans, drawings, and quantities are accurate and suitable for engineering calculations.

  • Manage and control design documentation, including drawings and technical specifications.
  • Maintain configuration control of engineering deliverables.
  • Liaise with designers and other discipline teams to ensure compliance with design and construction regulations.
  • Provide regular progress reports and updates to the Mechanical Responsible Engineer.
  • Plan and prioritise work effectively, adapting to setbacks and resolving technical challenges as they arise.
  • Use AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D scanning software proficiently to enable accurate transfer of site data to the design team.
  • Provide input and technical support as required for Design and Constructability Reviews

Requirements

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience operating as a Responsible Engineer (RE) / SQEP
  • Strong knowledge of plant systems within an operational/nuclear environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proactive and solution-focused mindset

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to work on-site/office minimum 3 days per week
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments
