Job Description

Job title: Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA)
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Location: West Cumbria - Hybrid available, 4 Days on site
Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Applicants must have experience of the following:

  • Radiation Protection Adviser certification
  • SNVQ level 4 in radiation safety practice or equivalent
  • Understanding and experience of implementation of radiation protection systems
  • Understanding of plant operations and associated hazards
  • Understanding of plant activities and associated hazards

Role information:

  • Provide advice to ensure dose exposures are maintained as ALARP
  • Implement radiological protection survey programmes and undertake regular reviews
  • Provide advice to the production of risk assessments
  • Ensure all personnel are adequately trained in regards to radiation protection
  • Set and review annual dose constraints
  • Verify secondary waste calculations prior to issue to suppliers/customers
  • Coach and mentor other staff in regards to radiation protection
  • Undertake radiation protection related audits and benchmarking activities to ensure guides and legislations are adhered to
