Job Description

Materials Controllers

We are looking for experienced Materials Controller's to start on a long-term project for an industry-leading Rail & Rolling Stock Company. The roles are based out of their new bespoke facility near Widnes, Cheshire.

Roles are 37 hours per week - Monday to Friday

Rates are £21.93 per hour PAYE

Or £27.73 per hour through and Umbrella Company.


Experience in this industry is essential, as is experience in SAP; Materials Management and Purchasing.

Technical Skills & Competencies

* Knowledge of Railway Group Standards associated with train systems and products
* IT skills - competent user of Personal Computer, including office packages, e-mail and intranet.

Additionally, should be familiar with systems i.e. SAP, ALPS, HI database etc

Purpose of the Job

Control and planning of material resources to ensure the production plan and business plan are met in the most cost-effective way.

Accountabilities

The position may require the functional management of a team.

Roles & Responsibilities

* Manage and operate the material element of the Business
* Manage material stock levels to ensure minimum capital employed but also minimum zero stocks.
* Identify, liaise and negotiate with material suppliers.
* Manage and control delivery of repaired components to customers
* Set up and maintain system settings to optimise processes
* Ensure material supply matches production
* Assist in the estimation of material costs within the tenders for new work
* Participation in the Weekend Production Conference Calls as part of the on-call roster
* Present and report at Materials Team Meetings or other occasions as required, on performance and risks affecting the Business
* Agree & Standardise Operating Procedures across depots
* Encourage & develop culture of continuous improvement & participate in / lead Kaizen events
