Night Shift Temporary Works Representative
Bridgwater
Initial CED 30/12/2022 - rolling 12 months thereafter
Up to £420.00pd PAYE Contract or up to £560.00pd via approved umbrella
* Work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights every week
* Work from 7pm to 3am each night, 8 Hours shift but this 8 Hours includes 1 hour rest period for breaks, etc.

The Temporary Works Representative for the Night Shift will observe the Contractors Temporary Works at the Hinkley Point C construction project working on site for EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB) the Principal Contractor (PC) in line with the recommendations in Section 1 & 2 of BS 5975: 2019 - Code of Practice for Temporary Works Procedures and the Permissible Stress Design of Falsework

Principal Accountabilities

* Confirm all parties involved with the Temporary Works operation being observed have had a Visual Task Sheet (VTS) briefing and have signed up to that briefing
* For the items of Temporary Works being observed confirm the individuals have the required training for that Temporary Works system
* Confirm for the items of Temporary Works being observed that the site team are working in line with the approved VTS
* Take photos
* Place photos and note items of Temporary Works being observed and relevant VTS reference number on the NNB Insights system at the end of the shift
* Walk out on site at least 3 times during the shift (this will allow for distance travelled, any time spent interacting, taking photos and notes, placing in report, breaks, etc.)
* If the site team are not working to the approved VTS then the team on site can be stopped, if possible, the issue is to be rectified on site and recorded, if not the work will have to stop until rectified as required.
* Report to the NNB Principal Temporary Works Coordinator on site.
* Ensure work is completed to the satisfaction of the NNB Principal Temporary Works Coordinator.
* Ensure work as assigned by the NNB Principal Temporary Works Coordinator is completed in the agreed timescales
* Assist the Temporary Works team with compliance of Principal Contractor Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) duties with respect to the delivery of Scaffolding and access and other Temporary Works (as required).
* Manage the contractors Temporary Works in partnership with the Contractors TWC's in line with BS 5975: 2019.
* Participate in Tier 1 Contractor workshops as required and promote cross site technical information flow
* Attend and contribute to team, project, client and third party meetings as required
* Proactively identify potential Temporary Works issues before they arrive on site to enable mitigating actions
* Bring to the attention of the relevant TWC any items found to require design resolution
* Develop and maintain an understanding of the design obligations of the designers and contractors
* Develop an understanding of the design document and drawing approvals processes to understand what documents are approved for construction use
* Ensure design decisions are not taken "in the field" by EDF Energy or contractors, but are considered and approved via a formal process.
* Ensure the execution of Works are in accordance with approved risk assessments, method statements, design and specification
* Ensure that as require each package has an approved Temporary Works design in place prior to Works commencement and ensure that Contractors are complying with such designs

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Knowledge & Skills

The TW Representative will have broad knowledge of construction techniques with high technical expertise in Temporary Works Construction Methods. Specifically, he / she will have good working knowledge of BS 5975: 2019. He / she will possess management skills and have solid experience in the role on a variety of Major Projects.
* Excellent organisation, delegation and communication skills.
* Extensive experience in Temporary Works construction methods.
* A proven record of liaising with multiple internal stakeholders on a major construction project.
* Experience in the application of design obligations under CDM Regulations.
* Must have an understanding of document and drawing approvals processes.
* Strong communication skills in English required.
* Experience of the review and application of contractor Temporary Works procedures.

Essential
* Demonstrable experience working as a Temporary Works Representative for a contractor on a construction site
* Knowledge and understanding of this type of Temporary Works on a previous construction project

Desirable
* Previous experience of the Hinkley Point C construction project
* Sound knowledge of NEC Form of Contract

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* A minimum of 3 Years for TWS experience in Civil / Structural Engineering
* Demonstrable experience of working for a contractor on a construction site as a Temporary Works Supervisor
* The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Temporary Works Supervisor
* IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent
* SMSTS or equivalent

Desirable
* Confined Spaces
* Advanced Scaffold Inspector
* Design experience / awareness
