Job title: Environment & Waste Manager
Job Type: Permanent
Start date: As soon as possible subject to clearance
Salary/ Pay rate/ Benefits: £70,000 Per Annum + Package
Location: Derby
Hours of work: 37 hours per week

The Role:
As the Environment & Waste Manager, you will report to the Head of Safety for Core Manufacture, the Environment and Waste Manager leads the Environmental Specialist Team in support of the business priorities and maintains and assures compliance with relevant company and statutory requirements.
The role is accountable for identifying and promoting good practice in the field of Waste Management and Environmental safety. Working collaboratively with Business HSE and the wider HSE function, to build a sense of team, and alignment to Business and functional strategies.
* Leading by example, the Environment and Waste Manager is responsible for the day to day management of the Environmental Specialist Team, a diverse team consisting of technical specialists in the areas of waste and environmental management
* Ensures compliance with the requirements of two RSR EPR Permits and one EPR Installations Permit as well as relevant Nuclear Site License Conditions.
* Lead improvements to Core Manufacture environmental compliance and waste management maturity by proposing and appropriately implementing changes
* Is the Subject Matter Expert for environmental management and the lifecycle management of radioactive and conventional wastes.

Qualifications/Experience Required:
* Strong leadership qualities with a proven track record in the effective management of teams
* Environmental science or physics degree or equivalent in relevant discipline with relevant experience working in a nuclear waste management / environmental management role
* Hold, or be working towards a certificate of competence to act as a Radioactive Waste Adviser
* Significant experience of working on a nuclear licensed site, including regulatory interface and of the characterisation and clearance of radioactive waste
* Has first-hand practical experience and a detailed understanding of Environmental Permitting Regulations, specifically relating to Installations and RSR Permitting

- SC Clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance.
