The Role:

The primary purpose of this position is to organise and develop all the technical knowledge relating to their owned sub-systems of the fuel cell stack, deploy this knowledge in multiple projects, ensure its proper understanding and application to guarantee robust product development, and to propose purposeful innovations.

Product Knowledge:

  • Gather, consolidate and curate all the knowledge relating to the fuel cell stack compression, and create and maintain all relevant standards and guidelines
  • Coordinate with other departments to plan the development of their activity roadmap
  • Ensure appropriate dissemination of the technical knowledge to all the projects from advanced engineering, live product development and In-Service Support (post-Start of Production)
  • Contribute to the advanced engineering roadmaps and propose innovations to increase the technology portfolio, improve quality, manufacturability etc.
  • Maintain internal knowledge central register (SharePoint) and documentation as agreed with the Team Manager
  • Promote inclusive cross-functional work alongside other departments to develop optimised solutions to engineering sign off

Project Delivery:

  • Guarantee the application of any acquired knowledge to all projects for the sub-systems under their responsibility, provide pertinent interpretation using fundamentals of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials engineering.
  • Participate in product risk assessment, FMEA, design verification plan and any mitigation activities to enable robust engineering.
  • Define development strategy for the introduction of innovations in new products, review their progress and design corrective actions when necessary.
  • Give appropriate support to the problem resolution process and development of countermeasures and ensure proper capitalisation of lessons learned.

What a great candidate looks like:

  • STEM degree or equivalent higher-level engineering qualification.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience related to the above accountabilities; experience in the automotive, aerospace, power generation or white-goods sectors would be an advantage.
  • Awareness of structural analysis techniques, capable of developing simple behavioural prediction models (0D, 1D)
  • Knowledge of materials engineering, heat transfer, thermodynamics, mechanics, hydraulics, and test engineering.
  • Experience with a CAD program - ideally Creo - a product data management tool - DDM preferred - and geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing to a standard such as BS 8888.
  • Analytical mindset at ease with complex technical subject, capable to explain them simply.
  • Proficient with small batch and series production manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with agile project management techniques such as Scrum and with documentation management and structuring in MS SharePoint.
