Role Specification:

  • Day-to-day management of all aspects of CE&I design work; production, selection, checking, development and delivery of optimised fit for purpose engineering and design solutions balancing aspects of safety and environmental performance, operational effectiveness and constructability.
  • With the CE&I RE, specification of CE&I engineering design requirements; ensuring clarity and accuracy of functional and technical specifications and scopes of work provided to supply chain organisations.
  • Generating and/or managing the generation of design deliverables including specifications, calculations, technical reports, drawings and 3-D models etc.
  • Inputting to and reviewing work packaging, tender selection, and tender submissions for procurement of CE&I related engineering services.
  • Identification and management of design, engineering and technical risks that affect delivery of tasks and projects.
  • Management of CE&I related drawings/models and drawing/model quality; supporting the
  • development and maintenance of configuration baselines and design bases within the CE&I area.
  • Carrying out plant walk-downs as required.
  • Supporting the close-out of engineering related actions and audits.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the Engineering Design Manual (RSM14) and supporting management system documents (RSPs, RSGs etc.).
  • Identifying appropriate engineering standards and practices to be used for the delivery of engineering work.
  • To be competent in the selection of materials and standard components to suit the design criteria.
  • Attend relevant Infrastructure Programme and Engineering team meetings.
  • Provide regular updates on work delivered/supported to the Project Engineering Manager, and weekly updates at Programme schedule/programme reviews.

Relevant Skills:

  • Engineering graduate (min 2:2) from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline or equivalent appropriate professional qualification.
  • Accredited by an appropriate professional institution (i.e. Chartered Engineer), or working towards that goal.
  • Relevant experience acting in a CE&I design and engineering role.
  • Demonstrable experience in the production, checking and approval of engineering deliverables.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry consensus standards, processes, procedures and methods relevant to the CE&I area.
  • Working knowledge of the Design Authority and Intelligent Customer concept and the role of the CE&I Project RE in executing this accountability.
  • Can demonstrate having the ability to proactively engage and impact on others and work effectively as part of a wider team.
  • Ability to ensure minimum standards and fundamental process requirements are maintained when under pressure to deliver and ability to challenge others at all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience in the production of high-quality technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Experience in working with supply chain contractors.
