You'll be part of the ICRH group which carries out the operation, upgrading and maintenance of the JET-RF (radio Frequency) plant and its power supply systems in support of the JET facility. The system delivers 10 MW of RF power (25-55 MHz) to the JET plasma. The ICRH system incorporates Instrumentation (Water Systems, HVDC Power Supplies, Cryogenics, RF, Vacuum, etc), PLCs and SCADA systems, Electrical Modules and Assemblies, Electronics modules and Assembly, Intelligent systems based on FPGAs, Interlocks.
You'll provide support for JET operation; this includes fault finding, maintenance and design of Electrical, electronics, electromechanical, Control and instrumentation systems. You may have the opportunity to take on the ICRH Co-Pilot role, including the safe start-up, configuration and shutdown of the ICRH plant and assisting the ICRH shift leader (Pilot) during operational shifts.
You will work closely with the rest of the team; It is essential that you adopt outstanding safe working practices.
You'll be responsibility for:
? Perform fault finding and repairs to electronic circuit cards and sub-assemblies, both with and without written test procedures.
? Perform maintenance and repair tasks on ICRH Plant.
? Design, Build and commission new plant and equipment (i.e. Cubicles, sub racks/assemblies and electronic cards) to defined requirements.
? Supporting our HVDC and Generators Plant Responsible Officers (DPRO).
? Support our Lab Managers in operating and maintaining our test and maintenance laboratories.
? Support JET Shift Operations as a RF co-pilot to assist the RF pilot both in J2 Control Room and on plant. (Roster 2-3 days a week).
? As required, generate and maintain appropriate documentation relevant to the above tasks.
? Work within the guidelines of the ICRH Local Rules, JET PS Local Rules, Culham Electrical Safety Rules and applicable work packs.
A degree in Electrical Engineering/Control with experience in process control and instrumentation.
Relevant demonstrable experience with design (including cubicle design, wiring schedule) of C&I systems of complex plants including for example, water cooling, interlocks, fast data acquisition (high bandwidth), fast timing and high-power/HV
Experience in programming and integrating PLC's, embedded systems (National Instruments PXI and C-RIO) and SCADA systems on both hardware and software levels.
Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, and ability to interact with various stakeholders (Project managements, Power-Supplies, multi-skills team, etc)
If working as a RF co-pilot, you may be requested to work shifts hours. JET operations run a two shifts system from 06:30 until 22:30; you'll be expected to be available for 8.25 hours shift work during this period. Occasional Saturday shift work could be requested (but not mandatory).
