Up to £400.00 per day PAYE/£525.00 per day via selected Umbrella partner
40 hours per week, 8 hours per day
Initial CED 31/12/2021, rolling 12 month contract thereafter

The Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) for Conventional Island is responsible for managing the Temporary Works for this section of the Hinkley Point C construction project working on site for EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB) the Principal Contractor (PC) in line with the recommendations in Section 1 & 2 of BS 5975: 2019 - Code of Practice for Temporary Works Procedures and the Permissible Stress Design of Falsework

Principal Accountabilities
The Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) - Conventional Island is responsible for all of the Temporary Works under their control as a Principal Contractor on site following the recommendations of BS 5975: 2019 and the NNB Temporary Works Standard.
The TWC will be required to: -
* Fulfil the TWC requirements as highlighted in BS 5975:2019 Clause 11.
* Report to NNB Principal Temporary Works Coordinator on site.
* Ensure work is completed to the satisfaction of the Principal Temporary Works Coordinator.
* Ensure work as assigned by the Principal Temporary Works Coordinator is completed in the agreed timescales
* Assist the Temporary Works team with compliance of Principal Contractor Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) duties with respect to the delivery of Scaffolding and access and other Temporary Works (as required).
* Manage, mentor and develop his / her own team of TWS's as required.
* Manage the contractors Temporary Works in partnership with the Contractors TWC's in line with BS 5975: 2019.
* Participate in Tier 1 Contractor workshops as required and promote cross site technical information flow
* Attend and contribute to team, project, client and third party meetings as required
* Provide advice to Project and Construction teams on Temporary Works matters
* Proactively identify potential Temporary Works issues before they arrive on site to enable mitigating actions
* Bring to the attention of the relevant TWC any items found to require design resolution
* Develop and maintain an understanding of the design obligations of the designers and contractors
* Develop an understanding of the design document and drawing approvals processes to understand what documents are approved for construction use
* Ensure design decisions are not taken "in the field" by EDF Energy or contractors, but are considered and approved via a formal process.
* Ensure the execution of Works are in accordance with approved risk assessments, method statements, design and specification
* Ensure that as required each package has an approved Temporary Works design in place prior to Works commencement and ensure that Contractors are complying with such designs
* Fulfil responsibility as highlighted in HPC-NNBPCP-XX-000-FRM-100195 - NNB Temporary Works Roles & Responsibilities Matrix
* Engage with the Principal Designer (PD) Temporary Works Liaison Lead, to arrange Temporary Works Field Change Requests (FCRs) and Requests For Information (RFI) effectively
* Undertake Temporary Works Design assessments as directed
* Undertake Temporary Works and Scaffold Inspections as directed by the Principal TWC
* Manage the Voids & Openings Software, and liaison with the software developer

Knowledge & Skills
The TWC will have broad knowledge of construction techniques with high technical expertise in Temporary Works Construction Methods. Specifically, he / she will have good working knowledge of BS 5975: 2019. He / she will possess management skills and have solid experience in the role on a variety of Major Projects.
* Excellent organisation, delegation and communication skills.
* Experience in leading a team by motivating and energising staff. By building a climate of trust and understanding and actively seeking alternative views and opinion's.
* Extensive experience in Temporary Works construction methods.
* Extensive previous working experience in the management and delivery of large complex multi-disciplinary Temporary Works projects. Experience of working simultaneously with multiple contractors is desirable.
* A proven record of liaising with multiple internal stakeholders on a major construction project.
* Experience in the application of design obligations under CDM Regulations.
* Must have an understanding of document and drawing approvals processes.
* Strong communication skills in English required.
* Experience of the review and application of contractor Temporary Works procedures.

Essential
* Demonstrable experience working as a Temporary Works Coordinator for a contractor on a construction site
* Sound knowledge of NEC Form of Contract
* Knowledge and understanding of this type of Temporary Works on a previous construction project
* Design to BS5975 and other relevant codes
* Preparation of Engineering Design Briefs (EDB)

Qualifications & Experience

Essential
* A minimum of 5 Year's experience in Civil / Structural Engineering
* Demonstrable experience of working for a contractor on a construction site as a Temporary Works Coordinator.
* A member of a relevant institution
* The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Temporary Works Coordinator
* IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent
* SMSTS or equivalent
* The Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) Basic Scaffold Inspector
Desirable
* Chartered Engineer
* Confined Spaces
* Advanced Scaffold Inspector
