Job Description

We are working with United Utilities to recruit a Developer Services Inspector to join their Operational Delivery Team on a full- time permanent basis. This role will be home-based with scheduled site visits and meetings across Manchester North - a company van will be provided for travel purposes.

Job Purpose
As a Developer Services Inspector, you will work within the Homeowners and Builders Team arranging customer visits to offer advice, guidance and support to customers and developers. You will also ensure compliance with relevant statuary Water Regulations, Water Quality Regulations and UU conditions of service through technical pipe inspections and investigations.

Job Accountabilities
* To carry out pipe inspections in line with the business operating model for planned work types including all new Domestic and Commercial connections to the water network. The inspection will include the supply pipe and all associated fittings Meter housing, manifold, stop tap, drain off and primary back flow prevention.
* Commercial job types to include Fire Supplies, Landlord supplies and irrigation systems.
* To prepare Technical Reports on any non-compliance and agree with the owner an acceptable plan for correcting all non-compliance.
Identify and highlight potential risk to water quality and public health to ensure development is added to risk register for follow up. E.g., Rainwater/greywater harvesting, communal hot water and heating systems.
* Point of contact for the Developer Representative and UU Technical Team. Ensure up to date site progression/status - Plots built, connected and meter installed, not yet built. On a proactive/reactive basis.
* To ensure all new adoptable assets are visible and operable following installation prior to adoption and handover to water network.
* To undertake site-based audits where non-compliance of UU policies/processes have not been adhered to. To monitor that any agreed remedial actions are taken by the appropriate parties, within agreed SLA's. Including demolished/rebuild sites where permanent disconnections may be required.
* Point of contact for UU Existing Connections Team. Gather and provide site-based information including, identifying point of entry to building, potential number of properties v numbers occupied, quality of workmanship, contact details (installer, sales/letting agent), overall risk rating.
* Gather and provide site-based information on potential demolished rebuild properties ensuring any appropriate permanent disconnections are coordinated and undertaken within agreed SLA's.
* Undertake routine and targeted audits of new buildings to ensure the water efficient fittings detailed in the application to secure the discount have been installed as planned.
* To complete pre quote surveys for connections off existing mains.
* To provide excellent customer service to our homeowners, builders and developers
* To follow the competent operator accreditation scheme (Licence to operate) -and attain all training as identified in the role specific matrix held by the learning and development department

Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999
* Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly and comprehensively for interpretation by others and maintain accuracy
* Ability to provide onsite advice and guidance to customers with the capability to enforce the Water Fittings Regulations whilst maintaining excellent customer service
* To read and understand complex technical drawings in order to comment or grant approval under Water Fittings Regulation
* A good level of competency in the use of IT packages including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, JIRA, GS
* Ability to set own targets - flexibility to manage multiple priorities, working to changing deadlines and attention to detail
* Ability to plan/organise which will require lots of self-management and therefore planning of own diary, organising site visits and balancing workload
* Ability to work independently or as a team
* Strong customer service focus and be able to resolve customer issues
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with repeat customers to deliver positive outcomes for all parties

Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of Highways Agency procedures and restrictions.
* Good knowledge of wider water industry and regulatory context.

Additional Information
* Geographical area of work will be Manchester North
* This is a full-time role working Monday - Friday between 8am and 5pm, total hours per week is 37
* This role requires a full UK Driving License
