Location: WFH/ Calder bridge
Rate: £16.65 per hour PAYE / £22.42 per hour Umbrella.
As a result of significant construction and ground investigation work on the site the
EM&SC scope of works has increased and additional resource is required to allow the team to support the additional scope. The original scope included the provision of an Environmental Monitoring Programme (EMP), regulatory and internal reporting, ground characterisation services, and data collection, management and interpretation.
The Environmental Monitoring Programme includes the collection of samples and measurements including but not exclusive of:
? groundwater level.
? radioactive groundwater quality.
? non-radioactive groundwater quality.
? meteorological (rainfall and parameters to support the calculation of
? trench leachate level and flow.
? surface water flow and quality.
? aqueous effluent (leachate) quality.
? landfill gas and radon.
? liquid and aerial discharges.
? grass, soil, concrete, sediment, milk and air sampling.
Site characterisation includes the provision of historical information, production of investigation plans, carrying out/ supervision of characterisation works, laboratory communication, sample dispatch, production of remedial designs and production of remedial validation reports.
This position will require the successful candidate to take a supporting role within the team to allow other members to better support the additional project support scope. The role will also include entry level EM&SC related project support tasks.
This is an entry level role which does not necessarily require significant experience.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated, team player. The following
? Qualified to A-level or equivalent in at least one science related subject.
? Relevant interest in environmental, geological or other earth science discipline.
? Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
The following are desirable:
? Qualified to degree level in a relevant environmental, geological or other earth science
? Knowledge of environmental monitoring, sampling and radiological and non-radiological
? Knowledge of ground characterisation, sampling and radiological and non-radiological
? Experience of scheduling analysis, data handling and interpretation.
? Experience of environmental monitoring, site characterisation and contaminated land
? Experience of working on a nuclear licensed site.
? Basic knowledge of GIS and environmental monitoring software.
