Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Leakage Analyst, to work for United Utilities on a contract basis for 11 months initially.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Leakage Team as a Leakage Analyst reporting to the Leakage Optimisation Manager within the water network team.

The role has been developed to allow the water network department to deliver against its strategic AMP 7 Leakage reduction target by the delivery of the Acoustic Logger Program. This role will be pivotal in helping United Utilities water network achieve its vision.

Job Accountabilities

• The purpose of this role is to ensure that high quality information is produced that enables effective and efficient management of our water resources by identifying areas for leakage detection through analysis of flow data, acoustic frequency and noise data. This role plays a critical part in allowing UU to achieve its company leakage reduction target.
• Analysis and interpretation of flow data, acoustic frequency and noise data to ensure effective and efficient deployment of detection resources within your business area for both DMA and Upstream leakage activities
• Collect, process and analyse data provided by Operations and Asset Management and Delivery
• React to acoustic alarms in an an appropriate manner to ensure any out breaks of leakage are resolved effectively
• Being a local expert user for Acoustic analysing software
• Ensuring that Asset Data is maintained correctly on our corporate systems
• Identifying areas of interest for detection teams
• Identifying location for acoustic logger installation to efficiently cover a complete or partial DMA to look for leaks
• Providing information to improve the effectiveness of our resources
• Schedule work for detection team
• Ensure all information reported is Reliable, Accurate and complete
• Part of a team focused on achieving the company target for Leakage. To ensure all activities comply with Health and Safety Legislation, including dynamic risk assessment.


Knowledge and Skills

• Educated to a good standard - minimum ONC or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate good technical understanding
• Comply with all Health and Safety procedures.
• Team working and communication skills will be an integral requirement of the role.
• Be proactive and confident in the way you deal with work and in dealing with the wider team.
• Ability to manage own workload and work on own initiative to strict deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as a team to deliver high performance.
• Working experience of Microsoft office applications, with advanced excel knowledge.
• Experience of Netbase, PMAC (or other trending software), MapInfo & IWM.
• Understanding of water network connectivity, pressure control and leakage detection methods.
• Understand the impact Leakage has on UUs vision to be a world class operator of utility infrastructure.
