Job Description

JOB TITLE: Project Engineer - Roof & Wall Cladding
LOCATION: Carlisle
SALARY/BENEFITS: £40,560 + attractive overtime rates & Benefits Package

- Considerable CAD experience with a strong emphasis on steel framed and steel cladded buildings
- In depth knowledge of Cold Rolled Purlins and Sheeting Rails (METSEC, Kingspan & Ayrshire)
- Demonstrated Knowledge and understanding of UK Building Regulations to the extent that they apply to Roof and Wall Cladding and associated building envelope trades
- Excellent problem solving skills

- Educated to engineering degree level or equivalent
- Experience in the use of Revit or similar 3D modelling software package
- Understanding of, and experience with BIM
- Knowledge of British Standards/Eurocodes relevant to Metal Cladding & Associated Envelope Trades

- Liaising with Consulting Engineers & Architects to ensure their requirements are met.
- Liaise with in-house Steelwork Engineers to ensure compatibility and correct positioning of steelwork to suit cladding & other elements within our package (including doors, windows, louvres, fans, rooflights, access hatches etc.).
- Development of cladding details, in accordance with manufacturer's requirements to suit a range of products including:-
Kingspan Composite Cladding (Profiled & AWP)
Coldstore Panels
Cleanroom Panels
Single & Double-Skin Systems (eg. Euroclad, Coverstructures)
Standing Seam Systems (Euroseam, Bemo, Kalzip)
Rainscreen (ACM, Booth Murie, CGL etc.)
- Preparation of general arrangement drawings.
- Preparation of manufacturing sketches & drawings, cladding schedules, flashing sketches, rainwater goods sketches, fastener lists, sealant lists.
- Incorporating all necessary information into the manufacturer's sketches & drawings (materials, colours, finishes, accurate cutting & drilling requirements.
- Liaising with buying department to ensure lead-times are achieved and delivery requirements are met.
- Visit sites to establish and check dimensional requirements, particularly when joining-on to existing buildings.
- Engage with Consulting Engineers & Architects to obtain all necessary information for the preparation of our Drawings and to ensure their requirements are met.
- Co-ordinate with in-house Steelwork Project Engineers and Specialist Sub-Contractors to ensure compatibility of Cladding Details with Structural Steelwork and all Building Envelope Requirements.
- Ensure Building Regulations are complied with, particularly with respect to thermal requirements, air tightness and fire resistance requirements.
- Interact with BSS Commercial Department to assist with Applications For Payment and in the identification, management and tracking of changes to tender requirements.
- Measurement of Roof & Wall Cladding for estimating and final account purposes.
- Liaising with Consulting Engineers & Architects to ensure their requirements are met.
- Creating Arrangement Drawings and Detailed Sketches to assist with tender submissions, drawing approvals, sub-contract tender packages, site installation and the co-ordination of other trades.
