DURATION: 6 Months +

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING: The successful candidate should be educated to minimum of HNC level but preference would be for a degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline
The tasks required to be completed would be:
the use of approved codes and methods to perform reactor physics evaluations and predictions of core behaviour, performing refuelling and shutdown margin assessments.
Demonstate continued compliance with the Station's safety case and Operating Limits by performing core follow route calculations and Technical Specification surveillance routines.
Prepare advice to Operations to optimise output.
Support the graphite core monitoring and assessment panel processes, including peripheral brick assessment panel.
Perform routine assessments of the data from failed fuel detection systems. Perform system routines within remit of NSG.
Ability to use and understand Fortran and Unix coding.
Nature and Scope
The scope of the work is outlined in the vacancy overview and includes technical work, under supervision, by experienced Reactor Physicists already within the group.
Individual will be expected to be embedded on site into the Hunterston B Nuclear Safety Group.
Expected deliverables are stated in the vacancy overview and include the successful completion of weekly and monthly compliance routines as well as the potential for responding to emergent plant system failure within NSG remit.
