Purpose of Role
The main objective of the position is to support our client in ensuring that the gauges are calibrated to company and industry specification requirements. In order to ensure continuity of service and instrumentation in the calibration laboratory, there is also a requirement to increase the scope of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), therefore the job will include a significant amount of programming and verification of the CMM against specific drawings.
Calibration of digital and manual gauges to drawing/specification
Accurate recording of data and producing reports in line with industry standards
Working to UKAS accreditation standards, ISO17025.
Working in compliance with the company Health and Safety Policy and building Safety Case
Ensuring gauges are accurately logged into the gauge management system
Return of gauges to the operational areas by the authorised route
Result authorisation and release
Working with CMM dedicated software to program for specific gauges against drawings
Operating the CMM
Support the Calibration Laboratory in delivering a timely, safe service to the production plants.
HNC, HND, BTEC, HTEC in appropriate metrology, engineering or scientific subject, craft apprenticeship, or suitable work based experience with typically at least five years relevant experience.
Experience of working in a calibration role, working with CMM dedicated software, writing and editing programmes.
Ability to use software such as MS Office, CMM software and Indysoft or other gauge management systems.
A good mechanical aptitude is essential, with dimensional / mechanical experience.
Previous experience of working to specifications and standards. The candidate must be able to interpret Engineering drawings with a good understanding of Geometric Tolerances.
