Details of SPEN Projects in Dunbar/ Torness area
In order to facilitate grid connections required due to increased generation from new windfarms, SPEN are undertaking significant expansion works to existing substations in the above areas.
Individual projects are up to three years duration and cover all aspects of civils and substation electrical works to provide the required connection point to the national grid.
Typically contracts will be awarded in three separate workstreams;
Enabling - Primarily earthworks, drainage, fencing, platform construction
Civils - Construction of in-situ bases for electrical plant including ducting and earthing provision
Balance of Plant -Installation and commissioning of electrical plant and equipment to enable final connection.
Earthworks excavation 200,000m3
Concrete placement - 650m3
Drainage/Ducting - 4500m
Fencing (Temp and permanent) - 1650m
Installation of electrical plant and switchgear ranging from (Transformers to post insulators)
Associated connection and cabling
The candidate should ideally demonstrate skills in both major civils contracts and electrical/plant installation.
They should be able to safely and efficiently co-ordinate several Contractor's working on site at any one time.
They should be familiar with large earthworks contracts and working in a sensitive environmental location.
The candidate should possess a thorough knowledge of current health and Safety & Environmental requirements, in particular the application of CDM Regulations 2015.
The candidate should have a minimum of 5yrs management experience.
Minimum competency would be HNC or above in relevant civil or electrical discipline in addition must hold clean Driving licence, First aid, 5 day SMSTS, temporary works experience would be preferential but not essential.
