Job DescriptionHere at the UK Atomic Energy Authority we are embarking on an ambitious journey of raising a number of purpose-built facilities. With a notable increase in funding for our Fusion research activities, we need to expand the estate at the Culham Science Park.
You could be part of this challenging expansion plan, helping to realise UKAEA's long term objective of making fusion energy a reality.
In your role you will be a key support to the Property Unit. The Property Unit is responsible for the delivery of construction projects to support UKAEA business growth and the commercial property portfolio. You will be responsible for the management of the construction projects from conception to completion across all RIBA stages.
In your role you'll:
Deliver a portfolio of building construction projects on budget circa £3-25M
Take responsibility for strategy, procurement, budgets, milestones, deliverables and performance reporting on multiple construction projects
Oversee a team of external professional service providers
Ensure all statutory & environmental approvals are obtained prior to works commencing
Manage internal and external stakeholders for individual projects
Ensure site working procedures and other statutory regulations are observed
Resolve obstacles to delivery and lead the identification and employment of creative solutions to overcoming them
Manage project(s) in compliance with the UKAEA's Quality Assurance requirements
Ensure that project SHE culture and working practices are in alignment with the UKAEA requirements
Experience of delivering high profile construction projects to budget, time and cost
Experience of financial management of significant (£M's) budget
Contract supervision safety and environmental management, and a pro-active approach to safety, with good appreciation of UK compliance requirements in design
Strong commercial awareness, including experience with NEC3 contracts, and the ability to make sound economic decisions that maximise project value given the strategic position of the organisation
Working knowledge and understanding of current construction legislation and its application
A good working knowledge of the construction design and management regulations
Experience of site safety management
Excellent communication, influencing, and collaboration skills
Excellent people management, negotiating and communication skills
Passion for ensuring good project management practices and culture
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a construction or engineering discipline
Ideally, you hold Chartered status of an appropriate professional body with experience in the use of the project management software, CAD capability and BIM awareness.
